Dr Birch is a GP currently based in the UK, who works as a GP in UK and Jersey in the Channel Islands.
He had moved to the UK from Jersey to study medicine in Brighton at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. During this time, he also completed an intercalated degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of Sussex. His interest in Medical Cannabis started during this time after a lecture from Professor David Nutt and the relative harms during a module on drug addiction. After qualifying from Brighton and Sussex Medical School, he went on to complete his foundation training in London before completing his GP training in Oxford.
He has undertaken specialist training in medical cannabis prescribing from leading physicians who are considered global experts in this emerging field of medicine. As a Jersey-based GP, he is fortunate enough to be able to initiate medical cannabis prescriptions and has been fortunate to hear first hand of the huge improvements that it has made to many patients’ quality of life.
Dr Birch currently works as a full-time NHS GP, and also works for The Medical Cannabis Clinics across the UK and Jersey clinics.
